Studio Notes from Beth

The Creative Mind Never Rests

This is a saying I have about myself. Ideas can come from anywhere. And boy do I get inspired all the time. I can be tire tracks on the road or a color from a leaf on the ground. All these ideas are in my head, and each is tumbling around trying to get out. Some may sink to the bottom for a while and wait their turn to come back to the surface. But there is a lot in there!

January 2025

Preparing for my 1st solo show in February! i have been focusing all my attention on finishing up work, sealing and wiring. It is so exciting to have this finally happen and I love to work towards a deadline. It has always been in my nature to work harder and more consistently when i have a deadline looming!

February 2025

Wow, the feeling of seeing my work all together in an exhibit was amazing! I have 20 pieces in the show and was a bit proud of myself for pulling it off. I had the flu leading up to my reception - but got Tamiflu and pressed on. Though I didn't have a large show at the reception, I sold 6 pieces the 1st day! And 4 more sold after the show. I feel like the show gave me credibility and friends took notice. It is not a hobby anymore, it is my career! Now what do I work on next?

April/May 2025

Took a small bread from the studio. But I realized that I created a nice body of work that can be used to apply for solo shows in 2026/27. So, I spent some time searching out galleries and art centers in my area that I could apply to. Well, that is a process. I had the images and descriptions for each, but each venue wanted documents and images in different formats and file names. But I did it and applied to 8. Now I wait to hear if I was selected. Now I have to get back in the studio and create!
